Universidad Loyola Andalucía, Córdoba and Sevilla

The Location
Universidad Loyola Andalucía provides Commonwealth University students with the opportunity to study in one of two incredible cities in Andalucia—Seville and Córdoba. Both campuses are located in Andalucia, the southernmost region in Spain. Seville, a two-thousand-year-old metropolis, is home to 700,000 people and sits along the Guadalquivir River. Landmarks such as the Real Alcazar (a shooting location for TV show Game of Thrones) and the Tower of Gold mark the oldest sections of the city. Seville is known for its sun and spirit. There is never a shortage of things to do, whether it’s a night out for tapas or an afternoon stroll through the orange tree lined plazas of Barrio Santa Cruz, Seville has something for everyone.

Córdoba is another vibrant city. Moderate in size, it is home to 325,000 citizens. Students who chose to study in Córdoba will experience the lingering influence of the Muslim, Jewish and Christian coexistence that defined the city for centuries. This is best exemplified by one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks—the Mezquita-Catedral, which literally means mosque-cathedral. Córdoba today is home to a vibrant social scene, open-air cafés, and a large student population. Whichever city you choose for your study abroad experience, you will no doubt experience everything that this rich region of Spain has to offer.

The University
Universidad Loyola Andalucía is a private Jesuit university. It has its origins in the Faculty of Economic and Business School of Córdoba, which was founded in 1963. In 2011, Universidad Loyola Andalucia became fully accredited under its new designation. The university focuses on student-centered education. The average class size is about twenty students, and academic guidance is available all throughout the term. Loyola also has partnerships with schools in 25 different countries around the world, which contributes to an international learning community.

Academics
The Universidad Loyola Andalucia offers a wide variety of courses taught in English, and exchange students are free to choose any available courses. The subject area chosen may determine which campus you attend.

Exchange students are also offered a free express Spanish language course at the beginning of their stay.

These agencies guarantee quality living arrangements.

Air Travel
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Detailed information is provided at orientation.

Tuition - Commonwealth University students continue to pay Commonwealth University tuition and fees while attending the Universidad Loyola Andalucía. Keep in mind that all financial aid can apply toward your study in Spain since you are participating in a Commonwealth University sponsored program. Students do not pay any tuition or fees in Spain. Please note, however, that it will be necessary to pay for activities such as athletic club memberships, if you wish to utilize those services.

Academic Calendar
The fall semester begins in late August and ends in December. The spring semester begins in January and ends in late May.

Health Insurance
All students are required to maintain a health insurance policy that will provide coverage for the duration of their stay abroad. Information on international health insurance providers is available from the Center for Global Engagement. You may find that your present health insurance policy includes overseas coverage. It is important, however, that your carrier provide written verification of such coverage. Further information will be provided at orientation.

So, how do I get started?
Simply come by the Center for Global Engagement to pick up an application form. Remember! Applications are due March 1 for the fall term and October 1 for the spring term.
